International Ambassador
Mr Edmund Leung is a Honorary Associate Professor of Surgery at
the University of Auckland. A consultant colorectal and
general surgeon, Ed was based at the mesmerising county of
Herefordshire. After his CCST, he undertook his fellowship in
Basingstoke, an internationally renowned centre for colorectal
surgery and pseudomyxoma. Mr Leung's subspecialty interests are in
early rectal cancer and minimally invasive cancer resection
including endoscopic and transanal surgery.
Mr Leung's other passion is leadership in training. He is a
recognised Royal College Convenor and faculty and also a clinical
tutor for Cardiff University. In his spare time, he works closely
with Doctors Academy, a charity run by doctors for the future
doctor. Mr Leung is also an examiner for the European Board of
Surgery and a grant reviewer for the Polish National Science
Centre. In 2019, Ed was awarded the prestigious Silver Sclapel
Prize.
He has published over 50 peer-reviewed articles and has a book
on Colorectal Cancer. He has also reviewed over 100 journal
manuscripts including the BMJ, BJS and Colorectal Disease. Within
his Trust, Mr Leung's is the current Clinical lead for theatres and
Clinical Audit Lead.
Mr Leung is married to Wendy, who has been the relentless
driving force in his professional development. They have two lovely
children.
