Mr Avi Agrawal is a Consultant Breast and Skin Cancer Surgeon at
Portsmouth Hospitals University NHS Trust. He graduated at London
Hospital Medical College in 1993, underwent higher surgical
training in South Thames Deanery and undertook a Masters degree in
Surgical Science, at University College London, with his thesis
focused on gene therapy in cancer.
Avi has been the Clinical Lead for Breast & Endocrine
Surgery and Surgical Oncology at his Trust for over 10 years. Other
current roles include MDT Breast Cancer Lead and Joint Chair of
Wessex Breast Cancer Network. He has a passion for teaching, being
a faculty member on multiple Royal College of Surgeons and ABS
courses, Medical Student Surgical Clinical Coordinator, Examiner
for Medical Finals, and involved in the selection process of
medical students for the University of Southampton School of
Medicine and Fellows for the National Oncoplastic Breast Program.
He has a special interest in oncoplastic and reconstructive breast
surgery and has helped many Oncoplastic Fellows springboard to
their early consultant careers.
Avi joined the BASO Council in November 2021.
