BASO~ACS  are delighted and proud that their Director of Education, Dr Afsana Elanko was awarded the Global Health Medal for her valued contributions to medical education and healthcare at the Global Health Awards in London on 5th October. This is a prestigious prize awarded only once a decade. The award was given in recognition of the work that Afsana has done for both undergraduate and postgraduate medical education. The oration was given by Professor Robert Kirby, President of BASO~ACS.  Other members of the National Council were in attendance to support her.

Afsana has built and maintained  links at the highest levels with other surgical societies, the surgical Royal Colleges and the main regulatory body, the General Medical Council.
