BASO~ACS is a distinguished organisation representing all the surgical specialists dedicated to treating people with malignant diseases. Founded in 1971, BASO serves as a pivotal forum for surgical research, training, and advancement, all aimed at enhancing patient care in the field of cancer.
BASO~ACS now represents oncology surgeons, trainees, nurses,
AHPs and their centres across UK, Ireland and has influence beyond.
We aim to support our colleagues with their professional growth and
enhance their expertise in surgical oncology. The Association
provides great opportunities for education, training and networking
for its members.
Membership Categories
Full Members are:
Professors, Senior Lecturers, Consultants, Locum Consultants,
Associate Specialists, Staff Grades and Post-CCT Doctors.
Associate Members are:
Non-Surgical Clinicians
Affiliate Members are:
Clinical Nurse Specialists, Non-Medical Researchers and Allied
Health Professionals, etc.
Overseas Member:
Professionals working in surgical oncology outside the UK. Members
from the Republic of Ireland can choose to join as Full, Associate
or Affiliate members or as an Overseas member.
Senior Retired:
Professionals who have retired from practice.
Those in training:
Trainees are invited to join BASO Trainees our Trainees Group,

Our trainees membership is now open to Medical
Students and Foundation Year Trainees
wishing to pursue surgical training. We support our trainees with
their surgical career and help guiding surgical portfolio via our
regional representatives.

**For members interest in receiving a paper copy sunscription of
the EJSO, an additional annual fee of £44 is applicable.
Reclaiming Your Tax
BASO~The Association For Cancer Surgery is an HMRC approved
(List 3) professional body. If you are a UK
taxpayer, the fee you pay for your membership may be tax-deductible
(eligible for tax relief). We suggest that if you
wish to claim tax relief against your professional fees, it would
be best to contact your local HMRC office, noting to them that the
BASO~ The Association For Cancer Surgery is an approved (List 3)
professional body.
