Professor Jim Khan is a specialist colorectal and minimal access
surgeon, currently appointed as a Consultant Surgeon and Clinical
Director at Portsmouth Hospitals NHS Trust. He trained at
Basingstoke with Prof Heald, the National Laparoscopic Fellowship
at Colchester with Prof Motson and a travelling clinical fellowship
at Mayo Clinic Rochester (US). He also travelled to Korea for
training in Robotic Colorectal Surgery with Prof Kim. At
Portsmouth, Jim is actively involved in medical education and
clinical training on a variety of basic and advanced laparoscopic/
robotic skills courses.
Jim has been a National Trainer in laparoscopic colorectal
surgery and European Proctor and Trainer in robotic colorectal
surgery. His research interests include Clinical research in
robotic colorectal cancer surgery, Quality of life and functional
outcomes after low anterior resection, training in laparoscopic
colorectal surgery and complete mesocolic excision for colon
cancer. He has published and presented widely at national and
international meetings. He is the council member of ALSGBI, a
fellow of the American Society of Colon & Rectal Surgeons and
examiner for MRCS and FRCS.
