Membership Benefits
BASO~ACS is an organisation representing all the surgical
specialists treating people with malignant diseases. The
Association was founded in 1971 as a forum for surgical research
and training for the benefits of patients with
cancer.
BASO now represents oncology surgeons, trainees,
nurses and their centres across UK, Ireland and has influence
beyond. The Association provides great opportunities for education,
training and networking for its members.
Our Membership benefits includes:
- Discounted registration for BASO Annual
Scientific Conference, Trainees Meeting and other BASO
meetings.
- Affiliate membership to our European sister
Society European Society of Surgical Oncology
(ESSO)*.
- Access to the ESSO courses at a discounted
rate.
- Free subscription to our in-house Journal the
European Journal of Surgical Oncology (EJSO) in
electronic format**.
- Opportunity to apply for BASO~ACS Fellowships and
Research Grants.
- Information about relevant training courses and
conference.
- Opportunity to join the BASO National
Committee.
- Eligible for Regional Representative positions.
- Claim tax relief on membership
subscription.
*In order to facilitate these membership benefits, BASO~ACS
forwards the relevant members' addresses to ESSO and the EJSO.
**An additional annual fee of £44 is payable for members wishing
to receive a paper copy of the EJSO.
Reclaiming Your Tax
BASO~The Association For Cancer Surgery is an HMRC approved
(List 3) professional body. If you are a UK
taxpayer, the fee you pay for your membership may be tax-deductible
(eligible for tax relief). We suggest that if you
wish to claim tax relief against your professional fees, it would
be best to contact your local HMRC office, noting to them that the
BASO~ The Association For Cancer Surgery is an approved (List 3)
professional body.
