The BASO International Fellowship supports consultant surgeons in cancer-related specialties to undertake overseas training and gain exposure to innovative surgical oncology techniques and practices.

Fellowship Objectives

🔬 Gain exposure to innovative international surgical oncology practices.
🏥 Translate new techniques into UK clinical care.
📈 Improve outcomes and quality of care for cancer patients in the UK.
🌟 Develop leadership within surgical oncology.


Application Requirements

Applicants should submit:

📄 Personal statement outlining:

  • Proposed overseas training
  • Objectives and anticipated impact on UK practice

📚 Current CV including:

  • Clinical experience
  • Academic achievements
  • Publications

✉ Letter of invitation from the host institution

👩‍⚕️ Letter of departmental support


Selection Criteria

Applications will be assessed on:

✔ Leadership and contribution to surgical oncology
✔ Feasibility and quality of proposed training
✔ Potential impact on UK patient care and services
✔ Knowledge transfer and implementation plans


Fellowship Recipients

Successful fellows will act as BASO Ambassadors, promoting excellence in surgical oncology and integrating newly acquired expertise into UK practice.
